MORE EVICTIONS expected?
A source from Koh Kong has confirmed that Koh Sdach locates in Kirisakor district, Koh Kong province is given the conssession rights to a Chinese company for 99 years which is to be developed to a satellite city of Koh Kong.
Koh Sdach has the land surface of 30 acres (12 hectares) covers all the southern tip of the island of the King, located 1h30 by fast boat from the North of Sihanoukville. The village shelters a thousand of native families and a temple of buddhist monks.
The people are now facing the eviction. They are given two hectares of land in the remote area with the money from $100 to $1000 and a small house to live in.
It is said that the people strongly protested against this last week but there was no news reported.
From the unidentified source said that the Chinese government gives Cambodian govt $300 million and some partrol sea boats as an exchange for this Koh Sdach. The development is under the Chinese company name “Union Development Group Co Ltd” which has its main office at #12AB St 348 Sangkat Beong keng kang3, Phnom Penh.
